Matthew 18:19-20 - If Two of You Shall Agree

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

Jesus promises if we pray to God with one heart and one mind, He will be with us and lead us. But many times, we are unable to do this, but compare with others when doing things. Sometimes, we are afraid that others will be better than us; sometimes, we look down on others. In this way, we can hardly gain the work of the Holy Spirit, because God is holy and He never resides in a filthy temple.

God’s words say, “In their interactions with each other, if people rely on life philosophies, their notions, intentions, desires, selfishness, and their own capabilities, gifts, specialties, abilities, cleverness, and minds, there is no way to achieve unity in front of God. Why is that? They are doing things within a corrupt satanic disposition, and there is no way to achieve unity. What is the ultimate consequence of being unable to achieve unity? (God does not do His work.) ” “If the Holy Spirit does not work on you, if God does not bless you or guide you, if you rely solely on your own strength and on your own gifts and abilities, then nothing you do will be done well, nothing you do will be in line with God’s will, and no matter how you do something it will be a waste of energy.

From God’s words we can see that the reason why we cannot achieve accord together is that we are corrupted by Satan. We make others listen to us whenever there is a disagreement. Once others are better than us, we will be jealous of them … Hence, we lose the guidance of God.

Share one more passage, “Brothers and sisters are spiritually linked when they’re together. They feel tranquil and at peace when they have fellowship on the truth. They have fellowship together with honest hearts, help each other, and lay themselves bare. Or, they engage in seeking for each other’s difficulties, strive to achieve unity both externally and internally, and they don’t hang onto the things that are on their minds. Do not hold on to your selfish little motives—move in one direction toward your common goal and achieve unity. Do not harbor your own intentions, and do not be opportunistic or engage in trickery. That way the Holy Spirit will do His work, and you will be efficient in the things you do.
