Meaning of Psalm 46:1 - God Is Our Refuge and Strength

As Disasters Occur Frequently, How Can We Enter the Refuge?

Psalm 46:1 — God Is Our Refuge and Strength

2,000 years ago, the Lord Jesus prophesied that there would be all kinds of devastating disasters in the last days: “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be(Matthew 24:21). Today, disasters around the world are growing. Earthquakes, famines, wars, and floods occur one after another, and the global pandemic is still raging. In the face of disasters, we are naturally worried about the safety of ourselves and our families, but we are powerless. Please don’t forget: God is our refuge and our only reliance in suffering. It’s just as the Scriptures say: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

In fact, the occurrence of these disasters indicates that prophecies of the Lord’s return have been fulfilled. The Lord has already returned and expressed millions of words to do a stage of the work of judgment and purification. He intends to completely rid us of corruption so that we can get purified and thus survive disasters and be brought into the kingdom of heaven. So how can we welcome the Lord’s return to gain God’s salvation of the last days and enter the refuge?

The Lord Jesus said, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hears My voice, and opens the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me(Revelation 3:20). “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me(John 10:27). And it’s prophesied in many places in Revelation: “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches(Revelation 2–3).

Almighty God says: “Since we are searching for the footprints of God, it behooves us to search for God’s will, for the words of God, for His utterances—because wherever there are new words spoken by God, the voice of God is there, and wherever there are the footsteps of God, God’s deeds are there. Wherever there is the expression of God, there God appears, and wherever God appears, there the truth, the way, and the life exist. In seeking God’s footprints, you have ignored the words ‘God is the truth, the way, and the life.’ And so, many people, even when they receive the truth, do not believe that they have found God’s footprints, and still less do they acknowledge the appearance of God. What a grave mistake!

From God’s words, we can see that the most important thing in welcoming the Lord’s return is to pay attention to listening to God’s voice. When we hear the testimony that the Lord has returned and expressed words, we should seek and listen to these words to see if they are the truth and the voice of God. Once we recognize these words as the voice of God, we must accept and obey. This is welcoming the Lord’s return.
