The Name of God Should Be Praised. A Commentary on Job 1:21

And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: Jehovah gave, and Jehovah has taken away; blessed be the name of Jehovah.

– Job 1:21

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

These words are not what Job spoke when he was possessed of untold masses of wealth, but after hearing that he had lost his children and all of his property. Instead of blaming God for losing everything, he was able to praise God and give thanks to God for taking from him. Job’s testimony gains the admiration of others. It’s a real testimony! Job’s words and his testimony set an example for us: Whether in favorable circumstances or adverse circumstances, we should recognize that everything comes from God. When God blesses us, we’re able to thank the grace of God; when we encounter adverse environments, we can also receive all from God, pray to God and rely on God to lead us to obey His arrangements, not to sin with our lips. And from which we can try to grasp God’s will of arranging environments for us.
