In my childhood, I learned such a fable which basically said that:
One day, a little foal’s mother asked him to carry some grains to the village across a river. He accepted it gladly. When he arrived at the riverside, he didn’t know how deep the river was. In hesitation, he saw an old ox eating grass not far from him. So he hurriedly ran to the ox and asked him how deep the river was. The ox said the river was not deep and it could just reach his calves. Just as little foal was about to lift his hoof to cross the river, a little squirrel jumped down from a tree in a hurry, shouting to him that the water was deep enough to go over his head. Hearing the conflicting advice, little foal didn’t know what to do next. So he returned home and told his mother what had happened just now. Then his mother took him to the riverside again and encouraged him to have a try. Mother’s words enlightened him. So little foal tried to wade across the river. He found the water was not as shallow as the ox said nor as deep as little squirrel said. Finally, little foal got to cross the river successfully. He looked at his mother with confidence to thank her, and then he turned and ran to the village happily.
Whenever I think of this story, I often put myself in his shoes: If I were the foal, what would I do? Would I listen to Little Squirrel not to cross the river or listen to Uncle Ox to wade across it or have a try as Little Foal’s mother said? It makes me realize that: Before we arrive at the truth of a matter, we shouldn’t parrot others’ words or chime in with others without definite views of our own. We should ponder deeply and investigate personally to see whether it corresponds to facts or not, then make a judicious choice. We will find something new in this way.
Just as when thecame to do His work, which conflicted with the conceptions of man, those chief priests, scribes and the Pharisees, who served God and were familiar with the very well, couldn’t cast aside their imaginations and notions nor seek the truth humbly due to their conservatism and arrogance. Instead, they defined God’s work in every aspect and tried to find fault with the Lord Jesus. Besides, they also made various rumors to frame and snare Him. They slandered the Lord Jesus by saying that He drove out demons by the prince of the devils. At that time, the Jewish people didn’t have discernment and worshipped position and knowledge. They thought that those chief priests, scribes and the Pharisees were the leaders of the church and knew the Bible well. So the Jewish people believed their rumors blindly, condemned and rejected the Lord’s coming. They preferred to release the murderer Barabbas to nail the Lord Jesus to the cross. Finally, they received God’s righteous punishment together with the chief priests and the Pharisees: the destruction of Israel and the survivors fleeing to countries around the world. Though the streets were rife with rumors, some people didn’t believe any of them. They neither esteemed position and knowledge nor defined God according to their notions and imaginations nor arbitrarily judged His work. Instead, they listened to the Lord Jesus’ sermons practically and saw what the Lord Jesus said is from God and the miracles He performed have God’s authority and power. So they were convinced and followed the Lord Jesus. For example, when Phillip told Nathanael he had met the one who is coming, Nathanael didn’t believe him at all. Afterward, the Lord Jesus said, “Before that Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you” (John 1:48). He pointed out Nathanael’s real situation with only one word. Nathanael was convinced instantly and acknowledged that Jesus is the Messiah prophesied. Besides, a woman of Samaria said to the Lord Jesus that she didn’t have a husband. But the Lord revealed her secret: “For you have had five husbands; and he whom you now have is not your husband” (John 4:18). Hearing these words, she immediately recognized the Lord Jesus is just the Messiah who would come. After some patients heard of the Lord’s great power, they engaged with the Lord Jesus practically and were cured by Him. For example, the woman who diseased with an issue of blood, relying on her faith, touched the hem of His garment, then her illness was immediately cured. There was a blind man called Bartimaeus. When the Lord Jesus passed by him, he seized the chance and cried out loudly to the Lord Jesus for his sickness. As a result, no sooner had the Lord Jesus touched his eyes than he could see. They all followed the Lord Jesus together with His disciples and received His salvation.
Later on, the Lord’swas preached everywhere. As many people had accepted His way of repentance and forgiveness, as long as they confessed their sins and repented to Him, they could be accompanied by the Lord’s grace and blessing. They truly experienced God’s deeds in reality and had some discernment in due course. Therefore, all rumors betrayed themselves. The wise will have a try personally. For instance, there is a man who has never eaten an orange. Some say it is sweet, and some say it is sour. How does an orange taste? After he tastes it in person, it turns out to be sour and sweet. In fact, what other people said is not accurate. As the saying goes: “Practice is the sole criterion of truth.” Almighty God says: “The more that people know reality, the more they are able to tell whether the words of others are real; the more people know reality, the less conceptions they have; the more people experience reality, the more they know the deeds of the God of reality… The more reality people have, the clearer their knowledge of the truth, and the greater their understanding of . Reality can overcome all letters and doctrines, it can overcome all theory and expertise” (“How to Know Reality”).
Nowadays, the Lord Jesus’, Almighty God’s kingdom gospel has shaken all denominations and sects. God’s work during the last days has been testified on the Internet to every nation and place throughout the world. After reading the words expressed by Almighty God, many people think this is the true way and the work of the returned Lord Jesus. But meanwhile, seeing the rumors spread by the CCP government, the pastors and elders in the religious world on the Internet, they are at a loss and don’t know how to choose, hesitate and dare not accept. On the matter of investigating the true way, we should be wise virgins, who can break free from the influence of rumors and the bondage of the people, events, and things around. If we can put aside our own notions and seek God’s voice, we will see that Almighty God is just the returned Lord Jesus, and come before God’s throne. This also fulfills the words in the Bible: “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20).
God’s gate of salvation has been opened to all the people. Whether we can gain the salvation of the last days depends on our choices. Almighty God says, “The return of Jesus is a great salvation for those who are capable of accepting the truth, but for those who are unable to accept the truth it is a sign of condemnation. You should choose your own path, and should not blaspheme against the Holy Spirit and reject the truth. You should not be an ignorant and arrogant person, but someone who obeys the guidance of the Holy Spirit and longs for and seeks the truth; only in this way will you benefit. I advise you to tread the path of belief in God with care. Do not jump to conclusions; what’s more, do not be casual and carefree in your belief in God. You should know that, at the very least, those whoshould be humble and reverential” (“When You Behold the Spiritual Body of Jesus Will Be When God Has Made Anew Heaven and Earth”).
