Thanksgiving Day is the day for Christians to give thanks to God. In this day, people express their gratitude to God in their own manner.
The Puritans suffered cruel religious persecution, uprooted themselves and crossed the ocean to another place, but in adversity, they still prayed to God, kept a grateful heart, and firmly believed no matter when and no matter where, God was with them. In their experiences, they saw God’s deed and God’s blessings, so they thanked God for His blessings, protection, and guidance. From the experiences of the Puritans, we know that be it good things or bad things, what God does is meaningful andis good, so we should be always grateful toward God.
Thesaid, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” From the word of the Lord Jesus we understand blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness. So, we should be happy, joyful, and grateful, and thank God for His grace at all times.
Thanksgiving is more than the festivities. It gives us time to thank God for His grace and spread God’s grace to more people. Happy Thanksgiving Day to you and your loved ones.
