During several decades of human life, God prepares the same amount of opportunities for everyone. Some people seize their opportunities, while others miss them. When the opportunity comes, have you grasped it? How do you make full preparations to await and welcome the opportunity that God bestows you?
I read a story today: In a slum of the United States, there lived a group of beggars, one of whom, with only one dollar left, hadn’t gotten any food for several days. Just when he was at the end of his resources, a newspaper was blown toward him. He picked it up and a piece of eye-catching ad leapt out at him: “You can get a limousine by only one dollar.” He was stunned and thought: Is it possible? I hardly believe such a good thing. It must be a joke. “As a dying man, why don’t I try my luck with the last one dollar?” he reconsidered. Thus, he went to the luxurious villa according to the address on the ad, found the owner, paid one dollar, signed the transfer, and finally got the limousine key and became its new owner. He was overjoyed. Before leaving, he asked the former owner why she sold it at such a small price. She said, “Before my husband died, he had stated his will to sell the limousine and transfer the money to his mistress. After hearing that, I almost became mad. It never crossed my mind that he dared to betray me! Therefore, I determined to sell it for one dollar in a fit of anger and transfer the money to his mistress in accordance with the legal procedures. The advertisement had been published for over one year, but not until today do I meet the buyer.” When the beggar drove the limousine into the slum and shared his experience in high spirits, another beggar suddenly fell in a faint, for he saw the ad one year ago, but he didn’t believe it.
The brief story makes me think a lot: The first beggar got the limousine owing to his pure belief and personal investigation; but the other beggar missed the good chance because he lived in his conception and conceived it to be impossible to get a car by one dollar, ultimately being so regretful that he passed out.
Although short, the story is thought-provoking! And today in the last days, a great many people are waiting for the return of the devoutly. However, hearing someone preach and testify that the Lord has returned, how many people practically investigate the work of God in the last days and listen carefully to His utterances like the beggar who bought the limousine for one dollar? And how many people hold the view of “impossible” to push away the unique opportunity when facing the gospel of God’s return, just as the regretful beggar did? We usually hear the saying: “It’s impossible! We haven’t totally seen the signs of the Lord’s return prophesied in ; how could God have come?” “It is said in the Bible that God will come upon a white cloud, so He couldn’t become flesh,” “God has been incarnated? It’s impossible! God has become man? Impossible!” “The Lord Jesus will definitely return to Israel, rather than come to China.” These varieties of “impossible” views have made man stray farther and farther from God’s in the last days. There are so many “impossible” in people’s minds and they are of little faith.
Looking back, when the Lord Jesus became flesh to do His work, the Jews thought it impossible that God became flesh and took on the appearance of the Lord Jesus. But in fact, their “impossible” became the evidence that they condemned and opposed God and ultimately led to the destruction of Israel. Moreover, after the Lord Jesus was crucified and was resurrected, Thomas with little faith always doubted that He is Jesus resurrected, he always wanted to see the scars from the nails on Jesus’ hands before he could put his mind at rest; without having seen them, he would always stand upon a cloud of suspicion. Although Thomas acknowledged and believed that the Lord Jesus was the true Christ by touching the nail marks on His body, he had lost forever the chance to follow and know the Lord Jesus. His attitude toward the Lord Jesus determined his fate. Therefore, the Lord Jesus warned people like Thomas: “because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29). says, “Why, when God works, must it be in accordance with man’s imagination? The only thing that God strives for in His work is for it to have an effect. He does not abide by the law, and there are no rules to His work—how could man fathom it? How could the conceptions of man see through to the work of God?” (“Work and Entry (8)” in The Word Appears in the Flesh). “Only those who can accept the truth can hear the voice of God, and only such people are qualified to witness the appearance of God. Put your conceptions to one side! Stop and carefully read these words. If you yearn for the truth, God will enlighten you to understand His will and His words. Put aside your view of ‘impossible’! The more that people believe something is impossible, the more likely it is to occur, for the wisdom of God soars higher than the heavens, God’s thoughts are higher than man’s thoughts, and the work of God transcends the limits of man’s thinking and conception. The more that something is impossible, the more there is the truth to be sought; the more that something is beyond the conception and imagination of man, the more it contains the will of God. … So let us seek God’s will and discover His appearance from His utterances, and follow His footprints! God is the truth, the way, and the life. His words and His appearance exist concurrently, and His disposition and footprints shall always be accessible to mankind. Dear brothers and sisters, I hope that you can see the appearance of God in these words, and will begin to follow His footprints toward a new age, and into a beautiful new heaven and new earth prepared for those who await the appearance of God!” (“The Appearance of God Has Brought a New Age” in The Word Appears in the Flesh).
Only s can guide and steer man to follow the footprints of God and enter into the new age. Only by putting aside his conceptions, seeking and studying the new work of God with humility, can man welcome the return of God and be raptured before the throne of Him. When Almighty God’s work of the word comes to you, have you grasped the opportunity of reuniting with the Lord?
