When the Opportunity Comes, Have You Grasped it?

During several decades of human life, God prepares the same amount of opportunities for everyone. Some people seize their opportunities, while others miss them. When the opportunity comes, have you grasped it? How do you make full preparations to await and welcome the opportunity that God bestows you?

I read a story today: There was a beggar who hadn’t gotten any food for several days and had only one dollar left. Just when he was at the end of his resources, he came across an advertisement in the newspaper “one can get a limousine with only one dollar.” He could hardly believe such an amazing thing. But even though he was in hesitation, he still found the owner according to the address on the ad. And he really bought the limousine with only one dollar. Out of curiosity, he asked the former owner why she sold it at such a small price. He learned that her husband had stated in his will to sell the limousine and transfer the money to his mistress before he died, and thus she determined to sell it for one dollar in a fit of anger. When the beggar drove the limousine to his place on the street where he lives and told his fellow homeless friends about what happened, one beggar suddenly fell in a faint, because he saw the ad one year ago, but he didn’t believe it.

When the Opportunity Comes, Have You Grasped it?

This brief story makes me think a lot: The first beggar got the limousine because of his pure belief and personal investigation; but the other beggar missed the good chance because he lived in his conception and believed it to be impossible to get a car for one dollar, ultimately being so regretful that he passed out.

Although short, the story is thought-provoking! And today in the last days, a great many people are waiting for the return of the Lord Jesus devoutly. However, hearing someone preach and testify that the Lord has returned, how many people practically investigate the work of God in the last days and listen carefully to His utterances like the beggar who bought the limousine for one dollar? And how many people hold the view of “impossible” and push away the unique opportunity when facing the gospel of God’s return, just as the regretful beggar did? We usually hear the saying: “It’s impossible! We haven’t totally seen the signs of the Lord’s return prophesied in the Bible; how could God have come?” “It is said in the Bible that God will come upon a white cloud, so He couldn’t become flesh,” “God has been incarnated? It’s impossible! God has become man? Impossible!” “The Lord Jesus will definitely return to Israel, rather than come to China.” These varieties of impossible views have made us stray further and further from God’s salvation in the last days. There are so many “impossibles” in our minds and we are of so little faith.

Looking back, when the Lord Jesus became flesh to do His work, the Jews thought it impossible that God became flesh and took on the appearance of the Lord Jesus. But in fact, their “impossible” became the evidence that they condemned and opposed God and ultimately led to the destruction of Israel. Moreover, after the Lord Jesus was crucified and was resurrected, Thomas, who was with little faith, doubted that He is Jesus resurrected, he wanted to see the scars from the nails on Jesus’ hands before he could put his mind at rest; without having seen them, he would always stand upon a cloud of suspicion. Although Thomas acknowledged and believed that the Lord Jesus was the true Christ by touching the nail marks on His body, he had lost forever the chance to follow and know the Lord Jesus. His attitude toward the Lord Jesus determined his fate. Therefore, the Lord Jesus warned people like Thomas: “because you have seen me, you have believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29). God also says, “Why, when God works, must it be in accordance with man’s imagination? The only thing that God strives for in His work is for it to have an effect. He does not abide by the law, and there are no rules to His work—how could man fathom it? How could the conceptions of man see through to the work of God?” “Only those who can accept the truth can hear the voice of God, and only such people are qualified to witness the appearance of God. Put your conceptions to one side! Stop and carefully read these words. If you yearn for the truth, God will enlighten you to understand His will and His words. Put aside your view of ‘impossible’! The more that people believe something is impossible, the more likely it is to occur, for the wisdom of God soars higher than the heavens, God’s thoughts are higher than man’s thoughts, and the work of God transcends the limits of man’s thinking and conception. The more that something is impossible, the more there is the truth to be sought; the more that something is beyond the conception and imagination of man, the more it contains the will of God. … So let us seek God’s will and discover His appearance from His utterances, and follow His footprints! God is the truth, the way, and the life. His words and His appearance exist concurrently, and His disposition and footprints shall always be accessible to mankind. Dear brothers and sisters, I hope that you can see the appearance of God in these words, and will begin to follow His footprints toward a new age, and into a beautiful new heaven and new earth prepared for those who await the appearance of God!

Only God’s words can guide and steer us to follow the footprints of God and enter into the new age. Only by putting aside our conceptions, seeking and studying the new work of God with humility, can we welcome the return of God and be raptured before His throne. When Almighty God’s work of the word comes to you, have you grasped the opportunity of reuniting with the Lord?
