Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
– Matthew 5:3
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
Why does theteach us this word? Why only the poor in spirit can ? Let’s seek and discuss it.
When the Lord Jesus was working, His sermons to disciples are different from that to the common people. This is not because the Lord has selfish motives, but because how much they love the truth differs and because their abilities to understand the truth also differ. God shows no favor to one over another, and as long as you seek humbly, He will clearly explain everything to you. Only if we understand His will from His words can we gradually cast away things from us that are incompatible with Him, and achieve compatibility with Him. The poor in spirit are willing to listen and study, and the more they listen the more they understand; while the arrogant have no desire to hear sermons, the more they listen the more they feel that there’s nothing to gain, so they gain nothing in the end, and are really poor and pitiful.
Now the topic about welcoming theof the Lord is uppermost in every Christian’s mind. The says, “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit said to the churches” (Revelation 2:7). This verse tells us that God will express words to do His work in the last days, which requires us to seek humbly more, and learn to listen to His voice, so that we can follow the footsteps of the Lamb in time.

Oh God, I’m always so arrogant and opinionated. May You teach me to listen to Your voice and let go of my notions and imaginations, so that I can be modest.
