JESUS Movie: Jesus Drives Out Money-Changers from the Temple
From this movie clip we can see that the temple, once full of Jehovah’s glory, became a place to sell cattle, sheep, and doves and exchange money. Theoverturned the tables and scolded people that they had turned the temple where people worshiped God into a den of thieves. This is sufficient to show that there was no place for God in those people’s hearts, and the temple had completely lost the work of the Holy Spirit. It reminds me of the condition of the church now. Some church friends and I all feel that the church is getting more and more secular. On the surface, many believers actively go to church for worship, but they talk more worldly matters instead of the belief in God. The pastors and elders always mouth platitudes with no new light. Many people complain that it’s very boring to join the meetings at the church. We listen to the message just like following ceremony instead of truly worshiping God. Therefore, the church becomes more and more desolate. Why is it like that?
Afterwards, I got to know the reason through a sister’s fellowship in a Bible study. At that time, the temple turned into a den of thieves, which foretold the work of the Holy Spirit had been transferred. When the Lord Jesus came to work and speak among men, He brought to man the truth, the way, and the life. Those who stepped out of the temple and followed the Lord Jesus had kept pace with God’s footsteps, and received the living water of life, while those who were still in the temple to keep religious ceremony had lost the work of the Holy Spirit. Compared to current condition of the church, I have been thinking: Has God done a new work? The prophecies about theof the Lord Jesus in the last days have been basically fulfilled; has He come quietly as a thief as it was mentioned in the prophecy? Then should we actively seek out the footsteps of God and the guidance of the Holy Spirit like those who walked out of the temple and followed the Lord, so that we can gain the living water of life? However, what should we do to seek His footsteps?
One day, a spiritual book I read says, “Since we are searching for the footprints of God, we must search for, for the words of God, for the utterances of God—for where there are the new words of God, there is the voice of God, and where there are the footsteps of God, there are the deeds of God. Where there is the expression of God, there is the appearance of God, and where there is the appearance of God, there exists the truth, the way, and the life.” I found the way to seek God’s footsteps from these words. The most important thing we should do is to seek out God’s words and utterances. If we find them, we will see the appearance of God. Thank God for His enlightenment and guidance; I’d like to actively seek God’s appearance and work for the last days.
