Exhort One Another–A Commentary on Hebrews 3:13

But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

– Hebrews 3:13

Thoughts on Today’s Verse…

This verse teaches us to cherish the time when brothers and sisters can exhort one another. I remembered that when I found some brothers and sisters did something that was not after God’s will, I was unable to help or exhort them in time. I always dared not speak out in case of damaging our relationships. When I saw God’s word saying, “These relationships aren’t established on the flesh, but on the foundation of God’s love. There are almost no interactions based on the flesh, but in the spirit there is fellowship as well as love, comfort, and provision for one another. This is all done on the foundation of a heart that satisfies God. These relationships aren’t maintained by relying on a human philosophy of life, but they are formed very naturally through the burden for God. They don’t require human effort—they are practiced through the principles of the word of God.” I realized that I had never loved brothers and sisters but harmed them by doing this way. If I don’t exhort them, they may always live in insouciant sin. Then the consequence will be dire beyond imagining. If we want to truly love God, and love brothers and sisters, we should be mindful of God’s will, and remind others of anything that is not in line with His will, and fellowship and see things according to His word. Not only can others know their problems, we can also get our share. This is a good way to get along with others. The Bible reminds us that “A word spoken in due season, how good is it!” (Proverbs 15:23).
